The annual Gospel Rap concert, ‘Come Alive” came off this year in a more impressive way amidst several challenges at KNUST as part of the Republic Hall week celebration. Preparations had already taken place to make the program a successful one. As at 10 am Sunday morning the organizers of the program where already at the venue grounds and setting up, this took them to 5:30 pm when the rains came down heavily for two hours. Everything was removed waiting for the rain to stop.

After the rain had stopped at 7:30 pm, the venue had to be moved from the original location to another place in the hall forecourt. The organizers quickly moved everything from the former venue to the new one and in less than 30mins JaySmoke was turning the tables.

The event kicked off with an opening prayer and a spoken ministration by NKG. Immediately after that, the host of the event SI Unit made their way to the stage as they ministered several singles for their debut E.P “Heat is coming”. SoulTape Family came through to do their own thing, it was my first time witnessing a ministration by them, and they did great. X4G took their turn, the stage wasn’t enough for them, so they moved into the crowds ministering “Turn Around and Einaa dat”.Psalm One, the favorite of all KNUST students took his turn and as usual he did his “thing”, Spoken Word and Rap.

After we had had much of the Rapping and spoken word, the Mass drama of KNUST took over, doing ministrations from Tye Tribbet “Greater than” album. This brought an innovative dimension to the entire concept behind the event. Then came Mr. Regardless, the few who do actual Hip Pop in Ghana. Esaias appearance was supposed to be a surprise, but they all got knew as time went on, Words could not describe the response he got form the crowd, they sang along as if they wrote the lines for him. The all-time favorite “Out of Coverage Area” cemented everything. SI Unit took another turn, and before I continue I would like to draw your attention to the fact that in no time these guys would be taking serious grounds, you would understand better if you’ve witnessed any of their ministration.

They ministered Viva, Face Your Fears which was the team song for this year’s Come Alive and one featuring KingsKid, its title hasn’t been revealed yet, but trust me it’s powerful. The C.E.O of Narrow Road Record Label, the main visionary of Come Alive Ministry,Ps. Michael White was called up to give his redemption speech. He brought church to the concert. He talked about the saving power of Jesus, did an alter call and appealed for funds.

Kingskid Immediately made his way to the stage amidst screams and Jumping. He also took time to also talk about the saving power of Jesus. Then “Testimony” and the Hip Pop lover’s favorite, “Jesus On” the stage wasn’t that strong for Jumping, so he joined the crowd, and it was whoop time!! He finally concluded that KNUST is one of the biggest reception he has ever had. “Onyame “ and “Seen the light”followed. In the crowd where these skillful dancers!! I tried doing a dance a girl was was doing, buh.. I couldn’t.

After all is said and done, Jesus was glorified, Come Alive is here to stay and next year, you wouldn’t want to miss it. A very big thank you to Elohim for his grace and to everyone that contributed in any way to make this program what it has become, God richly bless you.
