Obed Psych, one third and leader of the popularly successful Urban Gospel rap group, Preachers, is preparing to drop his first solo EP titled Winpang.
Slated to drop on the 27th July, the EP will be Obed's very first solo project and will feature never heard tracks from the profound lyricist. Popularly known for his tongue twisting rap style, Obed Psych is bringing something totally new and different to this project. Rapping predominantly in his local mother tongue, Kusaal, Obed Pysch brings a new level of richness and maturity to his flow, that can be likened to anything from the East of Africa.
When asked what inspired this new direction, Obed said “I was born in a village where there was no electricity, no pipe-borne water, and not to talk of cars. So Winpang which means God’s power and is also my middle name, is more like a testimony and a message of hope and encouragement.”
Winpang is a 6 track EP which features jams like Fu Yela (Your Matter), my personal favorite --- Ton Bu Toara (We Don’t Talk), Nongulum (Love), Yuum Kanga (This Year), etc. and were produced by Obed Psych, The Collekta and Emani Beats. Co-producers include Decorus, Peewezel and Bezbino Kidja
To give us a taste of what to expect, Obed Pysch released the first track off the project, Fu Yela, a few weeks ago and can be streamed/downloaded here.
We are totally in love with this project and believe that you will be blessed and inspired by it also. Word coming to us is that Winpang II is already in the works so this is just the beginning.
